The South Coast AQMD (SCAQMD) region requires wood coatings to have no more than 100 g/l VOC levels in LA-Eastern, LA-Western, Orange, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties.

As a result, many US states have enacted strict VOC regulations, limiting the level of photo-reactive solvents manufacturers can use in coatings.
